04 May 2018 Peru's new President sends request to Congress for power to legislate in tax matters On 2 May 2018, the new President of Peru sent a request to Congress for the power to legislate in tax matters. If Congress approves the request (as is customary), the new President would be able to: - Issue regulations on the general anti-avoidance rule, which is currently suspended until the regulations are published
- Amend the Income Tax Law to encourage investment and the use of invoices
- Amend the Value Added Tax to improve its administration
- Strengthen the Tax Administration to optimize its management
- Promote the development of micro and small enterprises
