Tanzania issues request for foreign nationals to update their residential information by 30 November 2018

Background

On 1 November 2018, Tanzania’s Immigration Services Department issued a press release reminding foreign nationals residing in Tanzania on residence permits, dependant passes and exemption certificates who have not yet reported, submitted and/or updated their residential information (addresses) to do so within 30 days from the date of the announcement, i.e., by 30 November 2018.

Purpose

The update request is a normal operation for the Immigration Department to verify the status of foreign nationals residing in the country in terms of validity of their permits and other related information.

Reporting location

Foreign nationals should report their residential location at the nearest immigration department office where they reside.

Note: The process does not cover foreign nationals who have already updated their residential details with the Immigration Department.

Documents to be submitted

Foreign nationals required to update their residential details should submit the following:

  • Copies of residence permit, dependant pass or exemption certificate whichever is relevant to them
  • Residence permit update information form, dependant pass update information form or exemption certificate update information form whichever is relevant to them

The respective forms for updating residential information can be accessed at www.immigration.go.tz on the downloads tab (application and declaration forms).

Violation of the notice
  • Non-compliance with the notice will be considered an offense and subject to legal measures from the Immigration Department.
