20 March 2020 Uruguay allows free trade zone workers to work remotely in light of COVID-19 The Uruguayan Director of Free Trade Zone Area issued a resolution to allow free trade zone (FTZ) workers to work remotely to stem the spread of COVID-19. FTZ workers are allowed to work remotely from 16 March 2020 to 30 March 2020. Usually, companies located in FTZs must undertake all of their activities within the FTZ to access the tax and customs benefits granted under the FTZ regime. Under the resolution, companies may have their workers work remotely without losing those benefits. Ernst & Young Uruguay, Montevideo
