Tuesday, 21 June 2022 | Keeping pace with European plastic packaging taxes (12:30 pm BST)

New European plastic packaging taxes are on the near horizon, as Spain has approved a new tax on non-reusable plastic packaging and will be in force as of 1 January 2023 (see EY Global Tax Alert dated 13 April 2022).

During the upcoming webcast, we will discuss some of the practical operational implications and share strategic business insights for effective compliance readiness. Panelists will share some important learnings, frequently asked questions and emerging leading practices in relation to the UK Plastic Packaging Tax, which has been in force since April this year. 

Lastly, we will explore anticipated developments across Europe. In particular, the evolving and expanding Extended Producer Responsibility schemes in Germany, France and Portugal, and how the modulated fees structures are being adapted to either fund the EU Plastics Levy or to meet the requirements of the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive.
