06 September 2023 Wednesday, 4 October 2023 | EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism: What effective compliance looks like (4:45 pm CET) 1 October 2023 marks the start of the transitional phase for the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (EU CBAM). The EU CBAM imposes a levy on certain product categories imported into the EU, namely aluminum, cement, fertilizers, iron and steel, hydrogen and electrical energy. As of January 2024, impacted businesses are required to submit quarterly reports including information about emissions embedded and carbon prices already paid. Assessing the potential impact of the EU CBAM from an operational, trade and cost perspective is essential, as is getting ready for compliance. Have you assessed the potential impact of CBAM on your business? Have you taken steps to get ready for new compliance obligations? During the upcoming webcast, we will provide an overview of the EU CBAM and who it impacts, immediate steps to take and how the EU CBAM should be considered in the broader decarbonization and sustainability journey. We will also touch upon the UK CBAM developments. Furthermore, we will provide a point of view on the claim to annul CBAM, which was lodged by the Polish Ministry of Climate to the European Court of Justice.
