01 August 2024 Costa Rica to introduce changes in consular registration and fingerprinting requirements effective July 2025 Effective 1 July 2025, Costa Rica will introduce changes to its consular registration and fingerprinting requirements for individuals who apply for temporary residence or Special Category Visas. Applications for temporary residence and Special Category Visas can be submitted only within Costa Rica. Currently, individuals who submit any of these applications must register with the consulate of their home country in Costa Rica and submit their fingerprints to the Costa Rican Ministry of Justice within 90 days of submitting their application.
