Friday, 23 February 2024 | EU Deforestation Regulation: Building an effective compliance readiness plan (14:00 CET)

The EU is committed to fight climate change and biodiversity loss, and deforestation and forest degradation are a big part of the problem. With the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), the EU aims to ensure certain products and commodities imported, traded within or exported from the EU have not led to deforestation or forest degradation, and have been produced in compliance with the legislation of the country of origin.

As of 30 December 2024, impacted businesses are required to provide due diligence statements verifying the ‘deforestation-free’ and legality status of commodities and products in scope. Products in scope are: cattle, beef and leather, cocoa beans, cocoa shells, cocoa mass, cocoa butter and chocolate; coffee, beans, husks; palm oil, nuts and seeds; rubber and rubber products; soybeans, bean flour and bean oil; wood, furniture, cellulose and paper (full list can be found in Annex I of the regulation).

While December may seem in the distant future, assessing the potential impact of the EUDR from an operational, trade, legal and cost perspective is the first readiness step.

Will your due diligence systems be ready in time to reduce potential non-compliance risks such as loss of ability to trade and sizeable fines?

During the upcoming webcast, we will provide an overview of the EUDR, who it impacts and obligations. We will share practical case studies on how businesses are preparing for EUDR, including immediate steps for impacted businesses to take considering traceability challenges. We will also answer your questions.

Speakers will include EY professionals experienced in deforestation and sustainability tax and legal projects.

If the timing doesn’t work for you, please register and you’ll receive the replay for you to view at your own convenience.
