29 October 2024 Tuesday, 5 November 2024 | UK Autumn Budget 2024 briefing for Asia-Pacific (14.00 CST) The UK’s Chancellor of the Exchequer (Finance Minister) is set to deliver the new Labour government’s first UK Budget on 30 October. Both the Prime Minister and the Chancellor have warned that the Budget is “going to be painful” and involve “difficult decisions.” At the same time, the Chancellor has made it clear that, in her view, boosting economic growth, not tax rises, is the key to solving the UK’s economic problems. Encouraging growth while simultaneously following through on election commitments is likely to be a challenge. Indeed, the government may already be rethinking its approach. Examine any changes to the government’s summary of measures released in July, immediately following the UK General Election. Look at measures matching international trends, such as progress on the design of the UK Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and the proposed consultation on e-invoicing. We will share the key points identified from the Chancellor’s Budget speech and the accompanying documents on the day of the Budget. Registration: Register for this event. Document ID: 2024-5055 |
