17 January 2025 Ireland extends temporary protection status for Ukrainian refugees until March 2026 Ireland recently announced that it will extend the temporary protection status for qualifying Ukrainian nationals and residents under the Temporary Protection Directive (TPD) until 4 March 2026. Ukrainian citizens and residents (and eligible family members) who fled Ukraine after 24 February 2022 may be eligible to receive various rights in an EU country that has adopted the TPD, including the right to work and reside in Ireland. The TPD was initially in effect until 4 March 2023 and then extended annually until 4 March 2025.
