Wednesday, 9 April 2025 | EU Omnibus: Charting the path forward for CBAM (3:00 PM BST)

The first EU Omnibus simplification package, which includes proposed changes to the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), has led to a flurry of commentary from political groups, advisors, NGOs and companies.  One thing is clear: the CBAM remains a cornerstone measure in the EU’s ambition to reduce emissions by at least 55% from 1990 levels by 2030.

In this upcoming EY Tax webcast, we aim to cut through the noise and outline what exactly this means for businesses and where next from here. Speakers will be answering questions including:

  • What are the proposed changes and what does the timeline look like?
  • What might the planned CBAM measures effectiveness review bring?
  • What steps should businesses be taking today?
  • How can CBAM be viewed as a catalyst for transformative and competitive advantage?

Join us to hear about:

  • Broader sustainability tax policy context
  • Proposed CBAM changes and timeline
  • View from outside the EU
  • Technical spotlight: emissions calculations
  • Immediate next steps for businesses impacted

If the timing doesn’t work for you, please register and you’ll receive the replay for you to view at your own convenience.

We look forward to seeing you there!
