Monday, June 29 | European Tax Policy Matters : Decoding EU’s simplification package (10 am ET, 4 pm CEST, 9 am CDT)

The European Commission is expected to publish its Taxation Omnibus and Directive on Administrative Cooperation (DAC) Recast proposals on 24 June with the aim to simplify the EU tax framework and strengthen EU competitiveness.

The proposals are expected to amend several multiple amendments to existing EU tax rules and may have practical implications for tax positions, compliance processes, reporting obligations, operating models and investment structures across Europe.

The Taxation Omnibus is expected to propose changes to several core EU corporate tax directives, including the:

  • Interest and Royalties Directive
  • Tax Merger Directive
  • Parent-Subsidiary Directive
  • Anti-Tax Avoidance Directives
  • Dispute Resolution Mechanisms Directive, and
  • Directive on Faster and Safer Relief of Excess Withholding Taxes

In parallel, the DAC recast is expected to bring changes to reporting obligations under DAC, including the DAC6 Mandatory Disclosure Rules

Against this background, questions arise:

What are the main elements of the Taxation Omnibus and DAC recast? Which will be embraced by the Member State? Will the package deliver meaningful simplification, or could it create new compliance and reporting demands? And what will it mean in practice for tax departments, business operations and investment structures?

Join us to hear about:

  • Key elements of the Taxation Omnibus and DAC recast: initial insights into the proposed changes to the EU tax framework
  • Implications for businesses and investors: early observations on potential impact on structures, operations and reporting
