South Africa waives medical report requirement for all temporary residence visa and permanent residence applications

On 17 July 2026, South Africa’s Minister of Home Affairs waived the medical report requirement for all temporary residence visa and permanent residence applications. The waiver applies immediately and is expected to reduce documentary requirements for eligible applicants. On 8 July 2026, South Africa’s Minister of Home Affairs issued Ministerial Immigration Directive No. 10 of 2026, waiving the medical report requirement for temporary residence visa applications submitted within South Africa, and for permanent residence applications submitted both within South Africa and abroad.
