United Kingdom announces Temporary Shortage List recommendations and Global Talent Visa expansion

The UK government has recently announced significant developments intended to reshape its approach to attracting and retaining international talent while reducing long-term reliance on overseas recruitment for mid-skilled roles. These developments include the Migration Advisory Committee’s recommendations for the new Temporary Shortage List and an expansion of the Global Talent Visa Endorsed Funder pathway for researchers supported by approved research funding organizations. These developments are particularly relevant for employers operating in life sciences, technology, advanced manufacturing, engineering, research and other priority growth sectors.
